Instead of trying to change who you are or what you have, start loving all that you are and be grateful for all that you already have.
One way to increase your level of gratitude is to find the drawbacks or downsides should you have that “goal” or if you became that “better” person. Once you awaken to the perfection of NOW (not tomorrow or when your soul mate shows up) you allow your mind to see the unconditional LOVE that the creator sees.
